5 quick wins to generate sales using social media
1. Set up a Facebook fan page and link it to your home page. You can use it to make announcements about upcoming events, new products or price reductions. Your information will be delivered to each fan’s Facebook wall. A Facebook fan page can compliment other forms of communication. Have a look at Duct Tape Marketing’s fan page.
2. Make a short film. If your product or service is a bit complex a short film may reassure potential customers. A film student from a local college may be able to assist. The film could then be placed on YouTube, your website and on your Facebook page. Have a look at Streetcar’s explanatory video on their website.
3. Participate in discussions. I discussed previously how to use social media to listen. Go one step further and engage in dialogues with people. Your products may solve their problems.
4. Experiment with podcasting. A podcast is a broadcast that can be downloaded to an mp3 player. Podcasting has been used successfully in different ways by many companies. Wiggly Wigglers uses podcasting in order to generate interest. Their podcasts are also available on iTunes. Learn French By Podcast provide taster lessons for free on iTunes which drives traffic to their website.
5. Start a blog. Blogs can be used to enhance communications. People can subscribe to them via RSS (I’ve previously spoken about its benefits) or by email and keep up-to-date with your news. Chain Gang Cycle Tours have an interesting and funny blog which personalises their website.

Great, really great theme. I’m going to write about it as well.
